What are Dental Veneers?

Veneers are wafer-thin, custom-made porcelain shells designed meticulously to cover the front surface of your teeth. Acting as a facade, they offer an immediate transformation, rectifying imperfections and giving teeth a more symmetrical, whiter appearance.

And What About Dental Laminates?

Although ‘veneers’ and ‘laminates’ are terms often used interchangeably, there is a subtle distinction. Laminates are essentially a thinner version of veneers, requiring minimal to no removal of the tooth’s enamel before placement, making the process slightly less invasive.

The Journey to a Radiant Smile: What to Expect

Dental Veneers Process

  1. Initial Consultation: Dive into the transformative world of veneers with a comprehensive assessment. Here, we gauge your dental health and set the stage for the upcoming procedure.
  2. Preparation: A slender layer of your tooth’s enamel is gently removed to accommodate the veneer. Fear not; this is a painless procedure!
  3. Impression Creation: We capture a precise mold of your teeth, ensuring the veneer aligns flawlessly with your natural dental contour.
  4. Veneer Placement: Once your custom veneer is ready, it’s bonded securely to your tooth, promising durability and a natural look.

Dental Laminates Process

  1. Assessment: Similar to veneers, we begin with an in-depth evaluation to craft the perfect laminate for you.
  2. Minimal Tooth Prep: Since laminates are thinner, they often require little to no tooth preparation.
  3. Impression & Crafting: A mold of your tooth is taken, leading to the formation of your custom-fit laminate.
  4. Laminate Bonding: The laminate is then adhered to your tooth, ensuring it blends seamlessly with your smile.

Both procedures typically require two appointments, spaced a few weeks apart, to ensure perfection in crafting and fitting.

Frequently Asked Questions

No! In cases where teeth are small and deficient in size and the veneers are used to add size to the teeth, little to no tooth preparation is required. This varies from case to case. During your consultation appointment your dentist will discuss what tooth preparation is required to achieve the results you desire.

It depends on the width of your smile and the number of teeth you want to improve the shape and color of. A smile makeover typically includes six veneers on the top front teeth. Sometimes, it only takes a few teeth in the front being fixed to lead to a drastic improvement of the smile.

The veneers process usually takes two visits to complete. During the first visit, the teeth are prepared, and impressions are taken to send to the lab for veneers creation. During the second visit, the custom-made veneers are installed, and you will leave our office with a beautiful smile.

While both are restorative dental solutions, veneers only cover the front surface of a tooth. In contrast, crowns encase the entire tooth. Veneers are more of a cosmetic solution, while crowns restore the function of damaged teeth.
