Aftercare

After Your Root Canal

Mild tenderness for a few days is normal as the ligament around the root settles — the deep ache should be gone. What matters most is not leaving the tooth unprotected:
  • Chew on the other side until the permanent restoration is fitted
  • Take over-the-counter painkillers as directed for the first day or two if needed
  • Do not delay the crown on a back tooth — an unprotected treated tooth can split
  • Call us if pain increases after a few days or swelling appears
